Manus Fullerton steps down as Chair of MGS
After nearly three years in post, Manus Fullerton has stepped down as Chair of Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS).
Since 2015, MGS has benefitted from Manus’s wide ranging experience in private, public and voluntary sectors, in particular his expertise in setting strategic direction, leading organisational change and promoting people development. During his time at the helm, MGS has delivered two successful conferences, become accredited as a living wage employer, and committed to better engaging with Scotland’s museums sector through a programme of staff visits.
Manus remains active as a Non-Executive Director of Xi Engineering Consultants Ltd and a Non-Executive Advisor to the legal firm Harper Macleod LLP. Previous roles have included sitting on the Board of VisitScotland, serving as Chair of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, Director of Social Investment Scotland, and the Vice Chair of BBC Children In Need Appeal Scotland. Manus has also held several senior positions in Lloyds Banking Group.
The position of MGS Chair will be filled in the short term by Charlie Sloan. Charlie has been a member of the MGS Board for 5 years, and is currently Executive Chair of The Gordon Highlanders Museum and Chair of the Association of Scottish Military Museums.
Recruitment for a new Chair will begin shortly, and details will be available at www.museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk
