Workforce Development Programme
The Workforce Development Programme provides a range of skills development opportunities for staff and volunteers within the sector. The team provide monthly skills updates and you can read our progress in July right here.
These opportunities are a combination of peer-to-peer learning through our MGS Knowledge Exchange Programme alongside more vocational, skills-based courses through our MGS Skills Academy, delivered by MGS and partner organisations, as well as signposted opportunities that we think you will find useful.
• Online sessions - We're working towards shifting relevant elements of our Knowledge Exchange online, diversifying our programme to include more content, focused on personal resilience - wellbeing, mental health as well as financial management, and other forms of organisational support. This will be in addition to a programme of collections, learning, volunteer and skills advice which is currently being developed.
• Courses - We work with key organisations and professionals to offer high-quality courses addressing the training needs within the sector. These courses can be between one and three days long and are usually run in Edinburgh.
• Workshops - Workshops consist of half day, informal, introductory sessions on a range of topics based in Edinburgh. These sessions are an opportunity to deliver resources and for participants to share good practice, ideas and network with others in the sector.
• Surgeries - Telephone appointments with the Grants team to discuss potential MGS funding applications.
