Intangible Cultural Heritage Officer (Year of Stories)

Intangible Cultural Heritage Officer (Year of Stories)

Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the National Development Body for Scotland’s museums and galleries. We support more than 400 museums and galleries, through strategic investment, advice, advocacy and skills development.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Museum Development team to support delivery of activity around Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022.

In partnership with VisitScotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, MGS have developed a fund dedicated to enable diverse communities across Scotland to celebrate Scotland’s literary and story-telling heritage during the 2022 Year of Stories. The Intangible Cultural Heritage Officer will play a key role in identifying and recording examples of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and supporting the implementation of a training programme which will build the capacity of the heritage sector and our communities around ICH at a local level.

You will have interest in Intangible Cultural Heritage, a commitment to working towards positive social impact, and the ability to sift through data and gather relevant information. Strong communication, organisational and administrative skills are required to facilitate high quality training opportunities. The ability to multi task and demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative constitutes a natural part of the job, as does the ability to work effectively under your own initiative within a wider managed project.

The successful candidate will manifest our core values: collaboration, integrity, passion for museums, and courageousness.

Closing date: Friday 5th November 2021 at 9 am

Interviews (online) are due to be held in the week commencing 29th November.
