Museums Galleries Scotland distributes funding from the Scottish Government to support development in Scottish museums. View the grant awards MGS has made so far in 2021/22.

MGS Grants Awarded

During 2021-22 our grants have been supporting development and helping museums to deal with the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are also running special funds to support museums and other cultural organisations to engage with COP 26 and Scotland’s Year of Stories.

#COP26Conversations Fund

We delivered this fund in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland and the Scottish Libraries Information Council. Awards were made in September to support museums, libraries and historic environment organisations to deliver climate focused, public engagement activity in the run up to COP26.

Climate Beacons Ideas Fund

We invited a number of museums that had prepared activity as part of bids to become Climate Beacons for COP26 to submit applications for support for unfunded public engagement activity. Awards were offered in September.

Museum Development Fund

Small Grants Fund
